Elementary Academic Program

 

The curriculum of Concordia Christian Academy is designed to address the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and aesthetic needs of the whole child.  This approach allows Concordia Christian Academy to focus on providing excellence in academics, while assisting in the development of well-rounded students.

The adopted curriculum of Concordia Christian Academy focuses on the use of age and developmentally appropriate materials, including textbooks, outside resources, and teacher created lessons and units.  Textbooks are evaluated on a yearly basis, in conjunction with the textbook adoption cycle established by the state of Texas.   Each year one or more specific areas of the curriculum are researched and evaluated by the teachers and administration. Teachers are involved with writing and developing curriculum, with consideration given to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, and Faith-based objectives throughout all curricular areas.

Serving Grades K - 5 in our core curriculum are publishers such as:

Ø   Religion - Concordia Publishing - (includes memory)

Ø   Math -  SRA

Ø   Reading, Spelling, English or Language Arts - Harcourt Brace

Ø   Handwriting -  DeNealian

Ø   Science -  Harcourt Brace

Ø   Social Studies - Scott Foresman

Elective curriculum areas include the following areas of study in our FAST Program:  Fine Arts track which involves art, music, choral, dance, instrumental and drama and the Science and Technology Track which includes  Life, Earth and Physical sciences, Math and Technology (computers and digital media), Gymnastics, Martial Arts and Physical Education and Life Skills, and Curriculum through a video based program.  Speech and language services are also available.
